    Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at 2kradon@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that can enter your home through cracks and openings in the foundation. You can't see, smell, or taste radon, which means the only way to know if it is in your home is to test for it.

Long term exposure to elevated levels of radon can increase the risk of lung cancer. The risk depends on factors such as the radon concentration and length of exposure.

Radon enters the home through cracks in concrete, gaps around pipes, construction joints, floor drains, sump pits, crawlspaces, and other openings between your home and the surrounding soil.

The EPA recommends taking action to reduce radon when a home has a radon level of 4.0 pCi/L or higher.

If testing shows elevated radon levels, a mitigation system may be recommended to reduce the amount of radon entering your home. The appropriate system depends on your home's foundation and construction.

A mitigation system typically uses a pipe and fan to draw radon from beneath the home and vent it safely outside.

No system can guarantee that every trace of radon will be eliminated. The goal of mitigation is to reduce indoor radon levels as much as reasonably achievable.

We would be happy to get you a free estimate on a radon mitigation system. A lot of systems can be quoted over the phone through photos. If elevated levels are found, a professional evaluation is the best way to determine the appropriate solution.
